However many styles and designs you have on your site, many guys have in mind something they do not see there. That special type of boot that they like and would LOVE to have…but in a form that adds height! Much better than stuffing lifts in styles bought from a shop.
Understandably, many guys who want to be taller have spent years dismissing elevators as a non-starter. And indeed in the past, badly-made way out-of-date and tired styles, mostly produced cheaply and poorly in the Far East, set the tone. Seeing shots of them was a real turn off. Alas they are still out there.
And this past problem with elevators was moreso for any guy whose wardrobe had even a passing nod to fashion. And that is even more vital now because almost every guy, even the most conservative, has a style and wants to some degree for it to be reflected in everything he wears.
The first step for us was obviously when we introduced our range of elevators which reflected all tastes from high fashion to conservative business…and for all ages and sizes. And if you are on our list to receive updates, you will see that we are always introducing new lines and styles.
But something that for many is the ideal is, of course, the specific type of style they like made just for them, custom made. The argument is sometimes made too strongly, but it is a fact that there has been a drift back to the idea of artisan and hand crafted, ‘made specifically for me’ in every aspect of life. Of course it was a staple tradition of the past, and certain classes of men were horrified at the thought of going to a shoe shop and buying a pair of shoes off the peg. At its most rarefied, that tradition is understood internationally through the classic English Savile Row form of tailoring, and indeed Italian shoemaking. Just when it all looked like dying out totally, it re-started in the 1980s in men’s clothing after 40 years of almost universal domination by mass production, and has gradually worked its way through every aspect. In earlier times, the concept was once rather staid and old fashioned, almost intimidating, and it came with a lot of out-dated snobberies.
Today’s idea of custom made is entirely different, even if the actual mechanics of it are the same – it builds on what those who like fashion are into and develops it in partnership between those who can achieve it and those who know what they want.
For us, we actively welcome guys telling us “I want these kind of boots [say, attaching photos], in this colour and with this type of heel/sole/finish/whatever”. With the best will in the world, we do not cover every single possibility in our range and we are well up to consider any ideas that guys might have.
So if you have an idea, you have a pair of boots or shoes you think are fab and really wanna make something like them with lifts, or if you have an idea about something you would like and don’t see it in our range…then get in touch with us and we will look at the concept. Even if, in the end, you decide not to go ahead, we still want to hear from you!
